Countdown to Christmas and a giveaway....

I hope you are enjoying all the projects and are getting in all of the giveaways over at the RRBF blog...they are all amazing! Today I wanted to share with you a layout I did about my Christmas tree topper. She is a pretty little thing isn't she and believe it or not she is a hand-me-down from my Mother in law. She gave it to me on our first Christmas together. She was supposed to be a "temporary" topper until we could go out and pick our own and somehow she managed to remain in the family for 11 years now!
For this layout I used several different lines showing how well all of these lines can be mixed and matched...I also used some RRBF vellum and ran some gold ink over it to help make it stand out against the background print.
The supplies I used are:
Background paper: FUS19- Fusion 12x12 Cardstock - Leaf

Stripped patterned paper: BWW15- Bella! Wedding Wedded Foil 12x12 Cardstock

Cardstock: SC22-Sugar Candy 12x12 Glitter Cardstock 200gsm - Toffee Apple

Vellum: FV49- A4 Vellum x12 sheets - Doily

Gold glitter letters: FN98 - Sparkle Alphabet 112 pieces - Gold - 20mm

Deco: XMD97- Christmas Tree Decoupage

Polka dot paper: 12XM67- 25 Days of Christmas Paper Pack

Join Ruby Rock-It's Christmas Countdown (RRBF Facebook page), tons of goodies to win just in time for the holidays. All you have to do 'like' our Facebook page, then 'share' it with a friend and have them 'like' it too and say "insert your name" sent me. GOOD LUCK!!!

A little Christmas Treat

Whew! Now that Thanksgiving is done...we move on to Christmas! Time for the hustle and bustle we all love. Putting up the Christmas tree, decorating the house, buying gifts...well in the midst of all of that I like to slow things down a bit. I love to bake cookies and my kids love to help, but one year we were running short on time so we decided to dip pretzels. They are so easy...I dip, they decorate. These have now become a favorite holiday tradition with my kids and they can't wait to do them every year! Once they are decorated I needed to find a creative way to send them off. This year I saved all of my empty containers in the hopes that one day I could use them, this was year. An old cheese container was just the perfect size for the pretzel rods. I decorated it with We R Memory Keepers Yuletide papers and embellishments. I also thought I would make a cute matching card using the same.

****To make these...I melt Almond Bark in a double boiler. You need to be very careful to not get any water in the bark or your bark will lump up. Then after trial and error on different ways to dip these, I pour the bark into a tall glass that will cover at least half the pretzel. Swirl it around and let most of the extra bark drip off. Lay them on wax paper and sprinkle with candy, nuts cookie crumbs...you get the idea. Then if you want you can drizzle some of the chocolate on the ones with almond bark and you can do the opposite...dip in chocolate and drizzle with the almond bark. There are no real rules...except to have fun, take pictures and last but not least...ENJOY!***

If you have some creative ways of sending off your Christmas cookies, add a link in your comment so I can come and check it out! Thanks for stopping by, Carrie

Halloween card...a day late...

I hope everyone had a great time yesterday with all the little ghosts and goblins. This was the first year I didn't go trick or treating with my kids. My youngest one is now old enough that she doesn't need Mommy and Daddy tagging along...it just would not be cool! I was sad and excited at the same time. I love going trick or treating with the kids but I never get to stay home and pass out candy. Well, I got to stay home and pass out candy to 2...yes 2 trick or treaters. What a let down for me. Oh well, we will try it again next year. So with that said I will leave you with a quick little card I made using the We R Memory Keepers Black Widow line...

Almost forgot...some photos of the kids who were too old for me to tag along with them:

Positively Pink with Paper Issues and Unity...

For the new theme at Paper Issues they have teamed up with Unity Stamps...awesome I know! The theme is "PINK" to coincide with the Month of October and Breast Cancer Awareness month. You can follow along on the hop from here and make sure you link up your project over at PI... For my first layout I didn't use so much pink, I did a layout of my daughter after she cut her hair for donation. She also wanted to purchase the pink hair piece with all the money going to Breast Cancer Awareness in our local area. I was so proud of her. For a 9 year old she sure has a big adult heart (this was actually her second time cutting and donating her hair)
For my second layout I just did a fun one of my daughter in her pink Christmas pajamas...

Homecoming with Bella! Boutique Family...

Today I am up over at Ruby Rock-It Bella!Fundamentals. I love this Bella! Boutique Family line. The colors it has, the embellishments and oh the patterned papers! The leaves were just at their prime on this gorgeous fall day for my son's Homecoming. We had so much fun taking photos. Their attire and the fall foliage back drop matched perfectly with this RRBF line, which I might add comes all together in a nice little kit making wonderful layouts come together very quickly without all the guess work of matching papers....

One Enchanted Evening with WRMK Black Widow line...

Hi Everyone! Today I want to show you that just because you have "themed" papers, doesn't mean you have to do "themed" layouts. I love the Black Widow Halloween line from WRMK. There is such a variety that comes with it so I wanted to work with that. My son just went to Homecoming and the pictures were just perfect for this line. I wanted to go with the Gothic classy look of the papers so I sanded and tore the edges of the paper a little bit. I also used some of the WRMK paper doilies and inked them. One I inked straight black and then layered another one on top after inking it with some oranges, yellows and blacks. I added some rolled flowers as well as some flower brads that are included in this collection. A few finishing touches and I had a perfect "non-halloween" layout using halloween papers.
